Altadena Reciprocity Project

The Altadena Reciprocity Project was created in response to the devastating impacts of the Eaton Fire, which not only destroyed the community and homes but damaged many local trees. To prevent this wood from going to waste, Angel City Lumber launched this initiative to repurpose fire-damaged trees into usable lumber. Altadena residents have three options to ensure their fallen trees are reused meaningfully.

Community Wood Bank

For Altadena residents only, the Altadena Community Wood Bank honors fallen trees of the Eaton Fire by utilizing the lumber yielded from them as finish-grade millwork lumber, available for rebuilding Altadena homes that were destroyed or damaged.

If you have lost a tree or trees to the Eaton Fire, you may donate the logs from your tree to the Altadena Community Wood Bank. Angel City Lumber will interface with the Army Corps of Engineers and/or their tree removal contractors to ensure the tree logs are cut to the proper parameters: 18-inch diameter (or larger) and 9-foot lengths (or longer). Logs under this size will not be able to be donated. The Army Corps of Engineers contractors will then bring these logs to the Altadena Golf Course, where they are being stockpiled for us to mill lumber from them over the next three years. There is no cost for this hauling service.
